Laser treatment is a non-invasive way of reducing pain, inflammation and speeding up the healing process.

How can laser therapy help my pet?The laser itself is delivered via a handpiece that is used over the affected area. Lots of pets find it very soothing as it produces a warm sensation and also has a massage effect when in contact with the body.

Laser treatment is scientifically proven to reduce pain after surgery and for both acute and chronic conditions.

  • Since we got Captain in October 2018, he has been extremely stiff and slow moving, seeming to take an age to get up the stairs. He was already taking medication for his arthritis and having only three legs may not help either, however we wanted to try to make him as comfortable as possible.

The first few sessions he took a while to adjust to, as he has the attitude of a grumpy old man. Although it took him a while to get used to the treatment, the results seemed to show much quicker, with him being able to take more than two steps without a break which was a huge achievement. He almost seemed to accept being touched more and began to ask for affection.

He's now at a stage in his treatment that he only hisses when he's being put back into his basket to go home, which is a major difference to his first one. He'll quite happily sit there all day showing he actually enjoys the laser treatment.

  • I am writing to let you know how pleased I am that Calder Vets decided to invest in a Laser treatment machine.

Sanna, my 14 year old arthritic dog, did the K-Lazer trial that you ran last Summer, and after just 5 sessions the difference was incredible, she was running with my younger dogs like a pup (they didn't know what had hit them). She went straight into the river, swam for twenty minutes and ran home. It was quite amazing.

There was a gap between the trial and Calder investing in a machine, and during this period I had to give Sanna more pain relief. However, since you bought the machine, and after just 9 sessions Sanna is beginning to pick up again, of course Winter and damp air hasn't helped, but she is coming for longish evening walks with the other dogs, so the result is still very positive.

The great thing about Laser treatment is that Sanna no longer needs to take Metacam, bad for her kidneys and liver, which worried me a lot, and that the amount of painkiller that I need to give her is a lot less.

Another positive outcome is that Sanna, who gets highly stressed at the vets has actually begun to relax and enjoy the treatment. As you witnessed in a session not so long ago, she almost fell asleep.

I'm just really happy with Laser, as it works. It causes no internal harm to my oldish girl and she doesn't need to take harmful medication.

I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am.

    Kind regards,
    Kathy Beels.

  • My 12 year old German Shepherd Zara has two displaced hips and a problem with one of her knees. Because of her age I don’t want to put her through any big operations, but three weeks ago she was in a lot of pain and I thought she would have to be put to sleep.

In the past we’ve tried lots of medications but they all upset her tummy so Calder Vets suggested trying laser treatment and after a few sessions she has no pain.

The first big change was her being able to get up and down our steps into the garden but now she’s back to going out on her walks again and is enjoying life. I have got my dog back for a bit longer thanks to Calder Vets”.
