At Calder Veterinary Practice in West Yorkshire we’re proud to be an accredited Cat Friendly Clinic and members of the ISFM (International Society of Feline Medicine).

Our Dewsbury Hospital is accredited gold level, our Mirfield, Penistone and Waterloo practices accredited silver level and our Sandal and Denby Dale practices are accredited bronze level.

We recognise that cats are unique creatures with specific needs and it’s important to us to demonstrate our commitment to the animals you entrust into our care. Working with International Cat Care (iCC), we have looked at how we can make Calder Veterinary Practice the best it can possibly be for our feline patients.

Cats by their nature are sensitive to changes in their environment, and by understanding and accepting this we can recommend measures to make your cat’s journey to the vets, and their visit to Dewsbury, Mirfield, Denby Dale and Sandal a less stressful experience than anticipated.

In order to achieve our gold, silver and bronze Cat Friendly Clinic accreditations, we have had to meet carefully selected criteria as stipulated by iCC. We have demonstrated that we:

  • Understand the needs of cats and strive to make visits to the vet clinic cat friendly
  • Approach and handle cats gently and with care through ongoing staff education
  • Follow the ISFM Feline Friendly Handling and Nursing Care guidelines and have made the pledge to be ‘Scruff free’
  • Have invested in equipment to manage the specific care requirements of cats
  • Have an appointed Cat Advocate member of staff to implement and oversee our cat friendly clinic status

"Hello! My name is Becky and I’m a Registered Veterinary Nurse, I qualified in 2Becky Taylor min018 but I’ve been in the industry for much longer! I have always been very passionate about cats and recently completed my certificate in Feline Nursing. This has allowed me to expand my feline knowledge which I'll be sharing at our Dewsbury hospital. I'll be running dedicated cat clinics on Tuesdays where I will be able to offer advice, as well as conducting specific clinics for kittens, senior needs, mobility, weight management, stress management and renal, as well as blood sampling, blood pressure readings and much more! I also have a passion for helping relieving stress in cats, especially those who suffer from urinary issues.
