We are currently accepting applications for EMS placements at Calder Vets – here’s some more information about what a placement might look like for you at our practice.

EMS student experience

At Calder Vets, we are happy to take on EMS Students from all training stages.

Opportunities available for EMS students and working hours

Students will have plenty of hands-on experience during their time with us. Before they start their placement, they are asked if there are any areas they want to focus on whilst working here. Whenever possible, their placement is built around what they need to achieve.

EMS students usually work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but we can be flexible to meet the students' needs.

What we expect from our EMS students and what they can expect in return

We expect students to participate in discussions and ask questions when unsure. By being open with us about what they want to learn and where they need support, we can help develop their skills while they are on placement. With support and supervision, they will be able to participate in all areas of practice.

Travel and accommodation

Our Dewsbury and Brighouse practices are very close to the main bus stops and train station, so they are easily accessible by public transport.

Our other practice sites, Waterloo, Penistone and Wakefield, are accessible by bus.

Parking is difficult at times, but there are numerous parking spots near the practice.
