{"id":7640,"date":"2018-02-08T08:00:52","date_gmt":"2018-02-08T07:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.caldervets.co.uk\/?p=7640"},"modified":"2025-06-13T16:25:43","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T15:25:43","slug":"calder-staff-celebrate-500-years-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.caldervets.co.uk\/news\/calder-staff-celebrate-500-years-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Loyal Calder staff clock up an amazing 500 years&#8217; service between them"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s said that time flies when you\u2019re having fun and loyal staff at Calder Vets are clearly enjoying themselves after clocking up a staggering 500 years\u2019 service between them.<\/p>\n<p>The 32 team members have all been with the practice for at least 10 years and celebrated reaching the combined landmark earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Tracy Hemingway, head of first opinion at Calder, tops the long-service table having been with the vets for more than 35 years, originally joining in 1982 as a trainee nurse.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cCalder has always been a successful team with highly skilled and caring people. My colleagues and I enjoy being part of that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone has the support of the directors and other members of team. We all feel our individual contributions are valued and we\u2019re always encouraged to develop our skills and veterinary knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started as a trainee nurse. After I qualified, I progressed to become head nurse, then HR manager, and then practice manager before taking on my present role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, I love seeing the animals every day. Calder has always put them first and the standard of care they receive has always been excellent, in line with our mission statement, \u2018Caring for your pets as if they were our own\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Tracy leads the way with her 35 years\u2019 gainful employment with Calder, Joy Thorne, a cleaner at the vets\u2019 Horbury surgery, has carried out her role for an impressive 25 years.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside her cleaning duties, Joy dispenses strokes and cuddles to the patients. She said: \u201cIt\u2019s always been such a good place to work.
