{"id":7341,"date":"2017-10-09T15:02:01","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T14:02:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.caldervets.co.uk\/?p=7341"},"modified":"2019-01-23T11:37:28","modified_gmt":"2019-01-23T11:37:28","slug":"calder-staffs-pedal-power-raises-1200-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.caldervets.co.uk\/news\/calder-staffs-pedal-power-raises-1200-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"Calder staff&#8217;s pedal power raises more than \u00a31,200 for charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Staff at Calder Vets who took to the saddle to cycle across Yorkshire for charity smashed their fundraising target by more than 300 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The Tour de Calder Vets, which took place on Sunday, September 24, raised a total of \u00a31,294 against the original target of \u00a3400.<\/p>\n<p>The ride took the 11 participants over distances of between four and 53 miles, dependent on the cyclists\u2019 ability, and passed close to all of the practice\u2019s 12 branches across Yorkshire.<\/p>\n<p>Practice manager Tracy Hemingway said: \u201cThis was a magnificent result and far exceeded our expectations. We are deeply grateful to all those who contributed to our achievement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those taking part were veterinary surgeons Gemma Kilby, Adam Bell, James Tate and Mark Harrison, veterinary nurses Katie Roberts, Lara Mchale and Kate Ellis, trainee veterinary nurse Billy Slater, receptionists Ruth Bushby and Beverley Turner and practice manager Tracy Hemingway.<\/p>\n<p>The money they raised will be split equally between two charities close to the riders\u2019 hearts.<\/p>\n<p>The first is Hope Pastures, which rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes horses, ponies and donkeys, as well as giving people the opportunity to meet the animals and find out how they look after them.
