Laura Du Pré
Veterinary Surgeon & Lead Vet
I graduated from Edinburgh in 2008 and spent the first 5 and a half years in mixed general practice, near home, here in Yorkshire. I was already familiar with Calder Vets, having referred complex cases here over the years, and in February 2014, I was fortunate enough to be able to join the team.
I enjoy all aspects of Veterinary work, from consulting and getting to know clients at the branches, to the challenge of working up complicated medicine cases, to surgery especially. It is great to be involved in the referral work at the Dewsbury hospital as well, where I can learn and develop my skills from the expertise of the staff around me.
Outside of work, I enjoy socialising, baking and all aspects of music and sport, both watching and taking part. When time allows I try to fit in hockey training, horse riding and rehearsals for a local rock choir. I also love photography and my friends know that when I’m there, they know they don’t need their camera with them! My partner and I have cocker and springer spaniels, which are (part!) trained gundogs, and we enjoy all aspects of field sports.
